A Dedication to Our Founder from the Executive Director, Angie Main:
Elouise Cobell worked tirelessly through much of her adult life to make life better for not only members of her own tribe, the Blackfeet Nation, but for all Native Americans. Her accomplishments are too numerous to list all of them here, but among the most important were her leadership in the Individual Indian Trust class action suit and settlement, the establishment of Blackfeet National Bank in the 1980s and later Native American Bancorporation and NACDC.
While Elouise was a great national leader, one of her great strengths was her ability to stay focused on what all of her hard work was about, improving lives of individual Indian people. After her death in October 2011, I was asked to take over as Executive Director of NACDC. Elouise was a great friend and mentor to me, and I am honored to take on the challenge of helping tribal communities to achieve economic sovereignty. I welcome you to view the video below in which Elouise and others talk about the mission of NACDC.
